Braise shifted and stared down at the wing across his lap a moment before he grinned madly and touched it gently. Oh how he admired the beauty of Ari's wings. "I am," he sighed. "Quite tired, that is, but the floors so uncomfortable. You'll wake up with a headache and bruises." He turned and laid down, close to the small boy and uncertainly hooked arms around him, drawing him close to rest on his arm. He wasn't sure if Ari would like that since the boy had laid down so far away. Maybe he wouldn't want contact. Either way, Braise left enough room in his embrace for Ari to squirm away if he wanted.
The dark wing over hism was so warm, covering him and he smiled gently at how thoughtful Ari was. More than anything he wanted to protect this boy and the wolf anthro wondered at the depth of his feelings for the small angel. They'd just met and already he was forming all of his plans around him.
((Alright, I'll be waiting^__^!! That's okay, if you're busy, you're busy. I understand *nods*))

Ari scooted closer to the other boy and snuggled against him slightly. He would have liked to get closer, but Braise was still injured and he did not want to make it worse. Or, just as bad, but the boy through any more pain. He was glad when he felt his arm around him, tugging him closer.
"You... get used to it," he said softly as he thought back to Braise's comment. That had been just after he had touched his wing. The contact had been strange, but nice none the less. Not many other people had touched his wings before. And if they had, it was a guard's angry hand. The angel closed his eyes and finally relaxed completely against his friend. "Sleep well, Braise," he whispered.

"You too Ari..." Braise smiled in the dark. He stayed awake long after Ari's breath softened and long after his small body relaxed in sleep. The darkness had encompassed them so much that he couldn't catch a good glimpse of his friend. No matter, he had memorized everything about him. Finally settling down he closed his exhausted eyes, body aching for sleep. It came to his all too quickly and took him away, curled comfortbly around Ari.
((Sorry! I couldn't think of anything else >_<))

Ari woke up feeling, for once, pretty comfortable and warmer than his wings could make him. He snuggled closer to the warmth next to him. He felt so safe right now in his semi-wakefullness. It was a nice feeling, one that he rarely felt. Much to his dislike, the angel started becoming more aware and awake. He realized the warmth was actually Braise, and it made him smile.
For awhile he just lay there trying to get back to sleep. His body would not let him. He was okay with that, though. Just laying there next to his new friend made him happy. Of course, his happiness had to be interrupted at some point. They were in In-Between afterall. He heard footsteps coming closer to their cell and guessed it could be breakfast.

Braise whimpered and shifted around a bit when he heard the scuffling of feet. He'd never been able to sleep through he sound of boots on the pavement before and now that the sound had stopped right outside their cell he couldn't sleep any longer. He woke up and was comfortable...warm...His ribs didn't hurt anymore, only itched a bit and he tested them, stretching. Ari was still in his embrace so he had to be careful, especially not to hit pretty wings. He sat up a little, Ari still in his arms and glared at the door, wondering if it was indeed a guard.

Ari's hands tightened around Braise's shirt when he started moving around. He didn't know the other boy was even awake! When the anthro sat up, he snuggled against him comfortably and partially sheilded them both with his wings. It was an unconscious thing he had gotten used to doing. Now he could make out two different footsteps because the loud firm ones of the guard had stopped with the unlocking of the door. The second pair sounded... different. The person wore different shoes than the rest of the guards he thought. It made him weary, and scooted even closer to Braise.
The door opened, revealing a tall, broad guard and a man. Ari guessed he was some kind of cat anthro, because of the pointy ears and long skinney tail he could make out. "There's these two," the guard said, his voice low. He walked up to the two pets and pulled them up roughly. Ari squeaked when before he even realized it he was being pulled away from Braise. The guard held them in fron of the man.
The angel shivered under the man's cold gaze. Who was this guy? When he saw Ari's small build the man shook his head. "Two small.... I need some one strong," he said desprately. He turned his eyes to Braise, and his eyes brightened some. "He looks strong."
"He's a bit feisty," the guard answered. The man tapped his chin thoughtfully, looking Braise over. Ari's eyes widened. The man was thinking about buying Braise! No, he couldn't... he couldn't take his friend away!
When the potential buyer sighed, the pet watched him fearfully. "I just want some one that will do what he is told, and who is strong. Why is this so hard for you to understand?" he growled at the guard. "Show me some others," he ordered, and they were gone quickly.
As soon as the door closed, Ari gave Braise a big hug. "I thought he was going to take you away," he muttered, bury his face in his friend's shirt in an attempt to get even closer to him.

Braise held the angel protectively, his heart beating a mile a minute. What a thing to wake up to. Some master who had looked at him like a piece of meat to be bought at the market. And he'd thought he was done for. Half asleep and groggy he'd had to look at that man, feel Ari beside him and potentially risk getting hit if he snapped. He wasn't going anywhere, with any master, unless said person took Ari too. He'd make sur eof it. He'd kick and bite liek the wolf he was until the angel was included in the deal.
Sighing he squeezed Ari lightly and looked down into his face. "It's alright....no one's taking me. Atleast, not without you too, little Ari....I'm not leaving you behind." And then he did something totally embarassing, something that was out of his character and something he'd wanted to do for awhile. The wolf boy leaned down and kissed the others forehead, nuzzling a warm cheek. He didn't know until it had already been done. Blushing he watched the boy in his arms, unsure what reaction he'd get.

Ari looked up at Braise in surprise. He just kissed him. Well, it was only his forehead but it was still a kiss. The boy smiled shyly and looked away with a light blush, but he didn't make a move to pull away from his friend or anything. The kiss was welcomed, though unexpected. Only because it was from Braise, though. It was amazing how close they had become, and it had barely been a day. Or, at least, he guessed it had not been a day yet. He was not absolutely sure, but he knew it had not been a long time. But Braise was so protective of him already, and it made him feel good. Like he was special or something. Knowing that Braise was always going to be there gave him a sense of security and warmth.
"Thank you," he said softly, after a few moments of silence. He glanced up shyly. "For saying you'll never leave me," he smiled.

Whatever he expected, it wasn't Ari cuddling just a bit closer, a blush on his face...well, if that was a blush. Braise couldn't quite tell in the dark. In what light did come from the window he could just barely make out a smile and that made the wolf boy's heart squeeze. At least, Ari hadn't rejected him....instead he'd made him a very happy anthro. "You're welcome," he answered, just a softly. "It's not just flowery words. I really do mean it Ari," he tapped the shy boy on the nose. "You're stuck with me," he grinned charmingly and when the door screamed open again, jumped, putting Ari behind him. They really needed to fix that screech.....
It was only the guard with their breakfast. A less than edible looking mess of slop with a side of moldy toast yet again. The man sneered at them and made to come forward but Braise growled. There was only one. He'd taken on three guards once, none of them had gotten away without some sort of gash or broken rib. This man knew not to move furthur. So he purposely kicked the plate over and banged the door shut. "See if you can find that, you lot of worthless vermin," they could hear him murmuring as the cell was locked once more.
"I'm sorry Ari..." Braise sighed and knelt down, hands searching for the toast. He foiund a piece and dusted it off, judging it alright when he handed it to the small angel boy, looking to find the other piece.

Ari knelt down, picking up the toast that Braise had missed and handing it to him after dusting it off. He nibbled on the toast his friend had given him. "Why are you sorry?" he asked softly. "I would rather have dirty toast that was dirty to begin with, then have you be hurt by that guard."

Braise took the toast and shrugged. "Because.....I always seem to make some sort of trouble. The food would've been cleaner...." He sighed and shrugged. It wasn't as if it was anything good anyways. "Thanks Ari...for saying that, it's a nice thing." He patted the floor next to him, offering a seat.
((It's short, I know. Sorry! ^___^'''))

Ari sat down gladly. He smiled at the light haired boy as he nibbled at his toast. "You're a nice person, Braise," he said softly. "And... I like you so... it's really nothing to thank me for," he mumbled, and started eating his toast with new vigour. That was so embarrassing, the way he couldn't think of something to say. How much did he like the wolf boy, though? And how much did he like him? There was the kiss but... he was not sure. He had never experianced anything like this before.
He was starting to regret eating the toast so quickly. It was really gross.

He glanced at the angel, eating slowly. The toast was disgusting and left a bad taste in his mouth. It was quiet around them again. "Hn," he murmured quietly, golden gaze locked on the other boy. Ari had said he liked him and that got the wolf boys hopes up, but he couldn't be sure. Surely someone as sweet as Ari didn't like him that way. He shifted and set down what he hadn't touched. It was killing him to consume the stuff. It tasted bad and made his stomach twist.
"Ugh....I think they put something on that stuff," he complained, rubbing his upset stomach.

"That, or it grew there itself," Ari suggested, then made a face. He dropped the little bit of toast he had left on the ground. That was a really disgusting thought, and he wished he hadn't thought it. He scooted closer to Braise, studying him. "Are you going to be okay?" he asked softly. The gross food didn't bother him that much. It was better than when they gave them meat-or something that was supposed to be meat-because he could actually eat it. So it was something. "If you think about something else, it might help."

Braise got rid of the rest of his toast too and rubbed his stomach. It did not agree with the stupid stuff at all. "I'll be fine...." He turned his attention instead to the food he remembered when he had been a free pup. that settled him somewhat and he turned a smile on Ari. "You're a genious.....thinking of the food from outside makes you feel better.." He then remembered Ari had no idea what he was talking about.
"There's all sorts of fruits," he explained, " and meat so good you can't stop eating. And the bread....the bread is never molding. It's fresh and tastes so good."
